Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy connects us directly to the intelligence and health of all life.

Our cells hold physical memory of our life experiences and sometimes these imprints or traumas can cause contraction in our tissues. For many people, this shows up in challenges that stem from the nervous system, as the NS is what sends and receives all communication in the body and in our connection to the outer world. Our cells and nervous system are also connected to the ever-present intelligence that guides their ability to function optimally. Supporting this process of re-balancing is what a craniosacral therapist does!

Using light touch and long contact holds, the practitioner connects to the innate health of the client's own body. This is emphasized by the practitioner's ability to notice subtle changes in the nervous system and by tracking the rhythms of fluid movements such as the cerebrospinal fluid that runs along the spinal cord and within the brain. After first establishing safety and settling of the nervous system, areas of dysfunction can be addressed where imprints (feelings/emotions, birthing experience, injuries, traumas, etc) have created contraction/tension in the system.
By accessing the intelligence of the body's ever-present health, areas of imbalance are brought back into balance by supporting the client in accessing their own internal resources. This often feels like a relaxing and slow "unwinding." During the session, the practitioner places contact on areas such as the head, sacrum, feet, and extremities, all guided by the priorities of the client's body (instead of "forcing" any perceived ideal outcome). Vocalization is welcome, and also silence can be a great resource here.
